Sugar Bowl Odds – Wolverines, Hokies Meet In New Orleans

Michigan’s preseason odds were no BetOnline scam: they were rated to be a preseason darkhorse and they find themselves in a BCS bowl as the Wolverines face off with Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Michigan Virginia Tech Odds – January 3rd, 8:30 PM ET

The No. 13 Wolverines (10-2, 6-2 Big Ten) flourished under new coach Brady Hoke, who guided Michigan to 10 wins and yes, one of those wins snapped a seven-game skid against rival Ohio State. Denard Robinson fell out of favor with those that use price per head bookie services in terms of the Heisman, but he received help in the running game and Michigan’s defense was much improved. Michigan has a record of 0-1 in the Sugar Bowl, losing 9-7 to Auburn in 1984.

The No.11 Hokies (11-2, 7-1 ACC) couldn’t solve Clemson this season, falling twice to the Tigers by a combined score of 61-13, but they still managed to snag a BCS birth. Virginia Tech has a run-heavy offense powered by David Wilson, and they’re eighth in the country in points allowed, but Michigan may pose some matchup problems for them. Virginia Tech is 1-2 in the Sugar Bowl; their last appearance was in 2000 when the Hokies fell 46-29 to current ACC rival Florida State.

Michigan is a 2.5-point favorite in their first-ever meeting with Virginia Tech, who couldn’t contain an athletic Clemson team and Michigan may have more athleticism than the Tigers. Also, Michigan’s defense has improved vastly under coordinator Greg Mattison, who worked with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Go with Michigan to cover the spread at your favorite sports betting sites.
