Big Ten News – Can Penn State run the table?

It’s been a bizarre season in college football betting and we can all concentrate on UFC 116 betting, as we’ve seen one big BCS contender after another – Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, USC – lose games they weren’t supposed to lose. So far, Penn State hasn’t joined that list.

Things are clicking for the Nittany Lions so far. Quarterback Darryll Clark has been quietly effective, tossing eight touchdown passes versus three interceptions in three games. The Penn State “D” has been stellar too, allowing just two touchdowns and two field goals entering Week 4.

It’s entirely possible that this week’s matchup against undefeated Iowa will be Penn State’s toughest test of the season. The Hawkeyes have won six of seven meetings against Penn State and won the last meeting 24-23. Iowa may run the ball a lot as two standout Penn State defenders, linebackers Navorro Bowman and Sean Lee, are battling injuries and could miss the game.

The key to the game will be Clark’s ability to avoid the Iowa rush. If he’s pressured into throws, Iowa safeties Brett Greenwood and Tyler Sash will be waiting for the ball, as they like to make big plays. Sportsbooks expect Penn State to succeed, favoring the Nittany Lions by 9.5 points. Can they do it? Probably, but this season has taught us to expect the unexpected.
