College Football News

Although the college football betting season for 2010-11 finished up last week with a thrilling BCS Title game, fans and experts alike have plenty to look back on as this was one of the most historic years in the history of the game. NCAA football betting experts and fans saw it all, from shocking upsets during the regular season and bowl series, to three teams going undefeated throughout the regular season. With so much to look back upon, it was hard to narrow it down, but here is the biggest story of this past season.

Expansion Appears To Be A Stepping Stone To Avoiding BCS Bowl Games - Entering the 2010-11 CFB season, fans and experts around the country discovered that certain conferences wanted to form to make super-conferences. On the one hand, fans saw the Big 10 convince Big 12 heavyweight Nebraska that joining them would be the smart choice to make both television deal and competition wise. On the other hand, fans and experts soon found out, that the Big 12 would agree to let one school leave the conference but not disband all together, as the Pac 10 had to go to the Mountain West Conference to poach a school.

As a result, the CFB fans saw Nebraska join the Big 10 to form the Legends and Leaders divisions, while the Utah Utes joined the Pac 10 to help them also form a super conference. Essentially, football fans and bettors can now expect for the foundation of potential inter conference playoff games to overshadow the BCS Bowl game series.

What this means, is that there will be mini tournaments similar to college basketball, where the conference title winner, can clearly be put into a bowl game. This past year for instance, we saw all three of Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan State qualify for BCS Bowl games. Instead, next year only one if any of them will qualify for a bowl game.
